If you’re a student, you know exactly how much stress comes from studying, paying for tuition, working a job, and trying to find somewhere in between to relax. The idea of starting a business, for most students, would be far from the realm of reality. I don’t have enough money, I need to focus on schoolwork more, or I know I will fail are some of the reasons I witness from students on a daily basis. I’d respectfully disagree, there is a huge opportunity for college students to build a business, especially in this day and age.

“The goal is to leverage our limited resources and maintain a quality product.”
My first year at a University, I came to realize one thing. I was in the best place to be thinking of starting a company. There are a ton of people that are eager and willing to help me on my journey. People that are there because they love the thought of inspiring and watching someone prosper and achieve their life’s dreams. Also, once you leave college, all the advice that will be given to you will be at a price. So make the most of it while you are still in college!

“A brand is what a business does, reputation is what people remember.”
Being a millennial comes with its ups and downs. One of those being a stereotype that has lingered with us our whole lives. Such things like: we need our hand held at work, we don’t want to pay our dues, and we are high-maintenance. At first glance, this point-of-view of millennials is a bad thing. However, this can work to our advantage in a variety of ways. When millennials create something that changes the way people interact or think, it shows the world how we really do things.

“Failure is nothing more than a chance to revise your strategy.”
I know from firsthand experience that you will make many mistakes during college. There will be times where you think nothing can go wrong, and within a blink of an eye, everything you thought couldn’t go wrong, does. However, it is ok to make mistakes. From these mistakes come wisdom and experience. If you mess up at something while in college, it means you are trying; that is what really truly matters.

“The richest people in the world look for and build networks. Everyone else looks for work.”
As a college student, you are surrounded by people that are all striving toward a future goal. Having this group of peers will be a crucial part of meeting people that will teach you important life information, and spreading the word of your business. For example, you tell a group of your friends, then they tell their friends, from there, it becomes a domino effect.

“Do not be afraid to dedicate some of your time to you. It’s not being selfish, it will help you focus, and keep you sane.”
I believe, during your twenties, you have the right to think about yourself the most. This is the time where you can create yourself, and prepare for the future. Invest your finances, heart, and soul into your passion. You are finally on your own, free and ready to make your own decisions.
